Fryslân is proud of the fact that it is the first province of The Netherlands that has created a network of cycling routes. The Vasthi-hoeve is situated between the cycling junction 7 and 51 and is near the LF3 Rietland route.
There are good foot paths in the province and the nature reserves (from Fryske Gea and Staatsbosbeheer) in the vicinity of the camping. Each year in the North walking routes are expanded. Regularly long distance walkers and pilgrims arrive at the Vasthi-hoeve because one makes additional variations to the ‘Friese Woudenpad’ and ‘Jabikspaad’. This is a preamble to the pilgrim route from St.-Annaparochie to Santiago de la Compostella (the whole route is represented on an object of art at the Woudsterweg in De Knipe).
For indoor sport, e.g. a nice squash, you can visit the nearby sports centre Kortezwaag (Kortezwaag/Gorredijk). There you can also enjoy yourself in an outdoor heated swimming pool. ‘Sportstad Heerenveen’ also offers many possibilities for active relaxation. Thialf is in with our guests for the summer ice rink. You can also make an excursion to the Abe Lenstrastadion or enjoy a football match from ‘SC Heerenveen’ there.
In the Northern part of the Turfroute there are good possibilities for canoeing and for sailing with motorboats with landing-stages at short distance from the Vasthi-hoeve. If you like fishing you will find lots of good places in the water area. And in the surroundings you can exercise horse-riding.
If you ride a motor bicycle you are very welcome. Your motor can safely be put up inside. Regularly we receive members of the Classic Japanese Motor Club.
